Seattle Koyasan
was established in 1949 by first and second generation Japanese immigrants to Seattle. Today, Seattle Koyasan serves the Japanese American community of the Seattle area as a cultural space and resource. Seattle Koyasan is also a place of spirituality and compassion for all who are interested in the teachings of the Buddha.
Seattle Koyasan Buddhist Temple is located in the Central District of Seattle, Washington. We are a temple in the Koyasan Shingon-shu 高野山真言宗 (Shingon Sect) of Japanese Buddhism. Shingon-shu traces its origins to the lineage founder, Kobo Daishi. Kobo Daishi 弘法大師 (the Monk Kukai 空海) brought soteric Buddhism to Japan from China in the 9th century C.E.
Please come join us for our services and events as we learn and practice Shingon Buddhism.
